Sense of Leadership

Sense of LeadershipThe Objective
Sense of Leadership will be celebrating 11 years this year of which Inspire Change have been heavily involved for the last 7.  It is a meeting which brilliantly links the multi-disciplinary nature of continence care, and includes updates on all the latest clinical choices in bladder treatments with inspiring workshops to help people develop their management skills. The challenge is ensuring that the right people attend and that the meeting content remains the best in this arena. The workshops have to stretch the group and really give them practical tips they can use in the workplace. The workshops must also be appealing for a diverse group – some 250 doctors & nurses from all over the UK.

The Solution
Inspire Change delivered concurrently 13 afternoon workshops with a variety of topics from Learning to Lead to CV & Interview Skills.  The sheer number of delegates involved creates several logistical requirements.  For instance, each delegate receives their own bound course notes and needs to be correctly briefed on where they should be and at what time.  A deliberate initiative was made to combine doctors and nurses in the same workshop to help get a better understanding of the others’ strengths and weaknesses outside of the pressured workplace.

The End Result

  • The workshops delivered by Inspire Change were rated as an essential part of the meeting by most delegates
  • The faculty involved felt that the level of skill and expertise was much higher than many courses they had attended run by the NHS
